02/16/08 - The Starlight Motel on Main Street, Rice Lake will be torn down, as the new Days Inn is nearing completion. Starlight is donating all of the salvageable materials from the old motel to Habitat for Humanity’s new ReStore in Cameron… bathroom fixtures, vanities, dressers, beds, windows, doors, etc. Local lumber yards are supplying trucks to haul materials to Cameron, but volunteer labor is needed. If you have the time on Friday, Feb. 29th, lots of help is needed. They’ll begin loading trucks at 8:15 AM. Some tear-out will still need to be done, so bring deconstruction tools with if you have them. The more help there is, the less time the process will take. Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare, your help will be appreciated. We will also need volunteers at the ReStore to unload the trucks.
ReStore is a retail outlet that takes in donated new and used building materials, appliances, furniture, etc, and sells it to the public at great prices. Proceeds help fund upcoming Habitat for Humanity houses here in Barron County. All donations are tax deductible.
